Getting to Petra

Taxis
Taxis are widely available within Wadi Mousa and relatively cheap. The best place to get a taxi is from the Petra Gate beside the Movenpick hotel; or call the taxi office on 03-2156777. A taxi ride within Wadi Mousa costs up to JD2 and fares are the same during the day or in the evenings. For hiring taxes to travel to other sites in Jordan costs are roughly as follows:

• Wadi Mousa to Amman - JD75
• Wadi Mousa to Aqaba - JD40
• Wadi Mousa to Dead Sea - JD70
• Wadi Mousa to Wadi Rum - JD35
• Wadi Mousa to Dana Reserve - JD25
• Wadi Mousa to Jarash - JD100
• Wadi Mousa to Ajloun - JD110
• Wadi Mousa to Madaba - JD60

Please note that it is not safe to get rides from unofficial taxi drivers.

There are two bus services that run within Wadi Mousa, linking the town with nearby areas such as Beida.
